What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign up with email, your name, email address and password. We store a one-way hash of your password, never the password itself.
- Messages. What you write when you email us, such as a support question or feedback.
Information from Google
When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID with us. See Google sign-in for details.
Information collected automatically
- Usage events. We use PostHog to record pages you view and buttons you click, with your browser, device type, screen size, referring page and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Once you sign in, these events are linked to your account ID and email address.
- Server logs. Our servers and Cloudflare record your IP address, browser, the page requested and the time of each request.
- Cookies and local storage. See Cookies and local storage.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect payment details, your contacts, your location from GPS, or anything from your YouTube, Gmail or Google Drive accounts.
Google sign-in
You can create a GameContour account and sign in with your Google account. We request only the basic sign-in permissions (the openid, email and profile scopes). With them, Google shares:
- your name and profile photo, which are stored with your account;
- your email address, which identifies your account and is where we send account emails;
- your Google account ID, which links your Google account to your GameContour account.
We use this data only to create your account, sign you in and contact you about your account. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed under Who we share it with, who process it for us. No one reads it except when you ask us for help, for security, or when the law requires it.
GameContour’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can remove GameContour’s access to your Google account at any time on Google’s security settings page. Removing access stops Google sign-in for GameContour; to also delete the data we hold, see Deleting your data.
YouTube API Services
GameContour uses YouTube API Services to collect public information about videos and channels on YouTube: video titles, descriptions, publish dates and thumbnails, view counts, and channel names and subscriber counts.
GameContour does not access your YouTube account, and signing in to GameContour does not give us any access to YouTube on your behalf. By using GameContour you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
How we use YouTube data
- We match each video to the Steam game it covers.
- We combine view counts from all the channels we track into metrics for each game, genre and Steam tag, such as views gained per week, a game’s share of all views gained, and the change from the week before.
These combined metrics are GameContour’s own calculations. They are not figures published by YouTube, and YouTube does not endorse them.
How long we keep YouTube data
- Video titles, descriptions, thumbnails and channel names are refreshed from YouTube or deleted within 30 days.
- View counts, subscriber counts and the metrics we calculate from them are kept for up to 36 months, so that trends can be compared over time, and then deleted.
If you run a YouTube channel that appears in GameContour and have a question about how its public information is shown, email mandzyuk.maryan@gmail.com. Deleting data from GameContour does not affect what YouTube itself stores.
How we use information
We use personal data for these purposes, each with the legal basis that applies under the GDPR:
- To provide the service: creating your account, signing you in, and sending account emails such as email verification and password resets. Basis: performing our contract with you.
- To improve the product: learning which features are used and where people get stuck. Basis: our legitimate interest in building a better product.
- To keep the service secure: preventing abuse, investigating errors and protecting accounts. Basis: our legitimate interest in a safe and working service.
- To tell you about important changes to GameContour or these policies. Basis: performing our contract with you. If we send product updates, every message has an unsubscribe link.
- To meet legal obligations, such as answering lawful requests from authorities. Basis: legal obligation.
We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Where data is stored
Our database and analytics are stored in the European Union. Cloudflare and Loops may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework to protect it.
How long we keep it
- Account details and email delivery records: until you delete your account.
- Usage events: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to answer them, and no longer than 2 years.
- Public YouTube data: titles, descriptions, thumbnails and channel names are refreshed or deleted within 30 days; view counts, subscriber counts and metrics calculated from them for up to 36 months. See YouTube API Services.
When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 7 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data;
- send your data to you or another service in a machine-readable format;
- stop or limit how we use your data, including for analytics.
Email mandzyuk.maryan@gmail.com from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the European Union, the authority in the country where you live or work; in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
Deleting your data
To delete your account and its data, email mandzyuk.maryan@gmail.com from the address on your account. We delete your account details, your analytics profile and your email records within 7 days, and confirm by email when it is done.
If you remove GameContour’s access on Google’s security settings page without asking us to delete your account, we delete the data we received from Google within 30 days.
Deleting your GameContour account does not delete anything stored by Google or YouTube.
Security
All traffic to GameContour is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, access to servers and the database is limited to the operator, and we keep our software up to date. No service is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
GameContour is a business tool and is not meant for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use your data, we email you before it takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
